What do we do?

Devon Dynamite Majorettes is a self funded, non profit majorette troupe based in Exeter. However they compete in competitions all over Devon as well as taking part in Fetes, Displays, Parades, Carnivals and other special events around the county.

When competing in competitions we enter 3 disciplines (Military, Baton Twirling and Pom Pom) with 3 different age groups.

Tiny Tots are aged from 4 to 8 years old.

Juniors are aged from 8 to 12 years old.

Seniors are aged from 12 to 21 years old.

  • Training

We train for all of our routines on Monday and Wednesday evenings at Whipton Barton Junior School.

  • Monday

On a Monday Evening we would train and practise our routines for Military, Baton Twirling and Pom Pom. Tiny Tots (age 4 to 8) would start at 5:30pm and finish at 6:30pm. The Juniors (age 8 to 12) would start at 6:30pm and finish at 7:30pm. The Seniors (age 13 to 21, year 9 and above) would then train from 7:30pm through to 9 o'clock.

  • Wednesday

On Wednesday Evening we also train for all our routines. This is again held at Whipton Barton Junior School with the Tiny Tots training from 6:00pm until 7:00, then Juniors from 7:00 until 8:00, and Seniors from 8:00 until 9:00.

Each one of the age groups within our troupe compete in 3 different disciplines, the first being a Military routine where the majorettes would learn a choreographed marching routine involving various formations, baton movements, footwork and most importantly discipline and timing.

The Second routine each age group would perform would be a Pom Pom routine, which is a choreographed dance routine with Pom Poms.

The third routine is Baton Twirling routine which is also a choreographed dance routine only this time it has the added difficulty of twirling and throwing their batons.
